Amethyst is a semi-precious stone that derives its name from the Ancient Greek word denoting drunkenness. This was about the belief that amethyst protects its owner from becoming inebriated.

Physical: Amethyst aids the digestive tract as well as the heart, stomach and skin. It reduces pain and swelling and heals bruising. The stone also has strong properties in strengthening the nervous system and endocrine glands, relieves headaches, and reduces nervous tension.
